Friday Finds || Under Forty

I love a quality looking home, but everything you buy doesn't have to end in multiple zeros for your home to be fabulous! Check out some GREAT finds for under forty bucks that I managed to compile. I display that exact same Nate Berkus vase on my coffee table with beautiful pink roses on a weekly basis.  The quickest way to make your place look elegant and cozy are some fresh flowers and a candle or two!

Happy Weekend- enjoy some thrifty shopping!

Rectangle Pillow Love

Happy Hump Day all! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week. I have been on the hunt for the perfect rectangular pillow since Sunday, and I wanted to share some of my awesome finds while scouring the web!

Last week I wrote about sofa pillow styling and mentioned how the use of an odd shaped pillow keeps the arrangement from feeling too symmetrical. Throwing a rectangular shaped pillow in the mix really makes the look complete and not so... well...boring. Be sure to stick to a fabric that is different from the other pillows, but coordinates well.

These lovelies are what I am fixing on for my sofa:

Get The Look: Soft + Elegant Nursery

Hello all! I am finally back after being MIA for a few days. I've been busy enjoying the August heat and entertaining friends from out of town!

Lately, I have been admiring soft and elegant nurseries. The perfect recipe to acheive this look is a furry accent for texture, a chandelier, and something mirrored.

Sofa Pillow Styling

I don't like rules. Rules bind creativity in my book. That's why when it comes to pillow arranging, I like to explore with patterns and venture outside the box.

For months I have been purusing online shops and local boutiques for the perfect pillows to display on my sofa, and I finally ended up leaving West Elm on Sunday with a pair of Mongolian lamb beauties. The pillows really bring warmth into my loft, and although the pillows are a solid color, the texture adds the same amount of personality as a print would.

The colors you choose and prints you use should reflect your personality above all else. Try to avoid buying your pillows all from one source, or it will end up looking like the cover of a catalog. Utilize your unique style and have fun with it!
Here I mix bold patterns with softer prints. The arrangement I usually stick to is a printed pair + a subtle pair + one odd pillow. These gorgeous pillows can be found at Amber Interior's Shoppe. Amber has a stunning collection- go check it out!

Keep the look balanced, but not too symmetrical. Here I use a printed pair + two odds.

I love to mix and match neutral patterns, you really can't go wrong here! Above I use three different prints that blend together in perfect unison. You can incorporate 'pops' of color with a rug and/or accents.

Don't these West Elm Mongolian lamb pillows and poufs add warmth and an ethnic charm to my loft? I am looking to replace my middle odd pillow with this funky one. Ah, pillow love!

What is your favorite styling trick for mixing and matching pillows?

This Week's Lust Have: Poufs

Why do I love these darn things so much?!

Well for starters they add ethnic charm to a traditional room, allow for extra seating (important for us city dwellers), and are the most personable accessory in the house. Pouf, I'm in love!

These babies can range in price and quality drastically, so be sure to buy from a reputable shop if you are buying online, and if you are buying on eBay- be aware and read the fine print (some are sold without stuffing). You don't want a "cheap-ripping-at-the-seems" pouf, right? It will ruin your whole feng shui!

This interior trend has been invading homes and children's rooms everywhere, now where can I get my pouf?

Black, White, & Bold

Lately I have been particularly drawn to the bold and iconic, and a black and white room surely embodies this style. The contrast of black and white effortlessly adds interest and a contemporary edge to your home- the drama is infectious! This combination can be complimented with almost any color, and used in any room.

I am loving the dramatic today, how about you?

Love it, or Hate it? Wallpapered Ceilings.

A wallpapered ceiling can make a huge statement. The boldness of this style can be fashioned on odd walls, in plain rooms for a "pop" of pattern, or even in smaller spaces like the closet or bathroom. I personally love wallpapered ceilings, although it is key to use it in reason so that your space doesn't end up looking too cluttered.

Here are some gorgeous ideas I've compiled that make me want to wallpaper a ceiling in my loft STAT!

If you are in the market for wallpaper, go take a peek at Abigail Borg's stunning collection. All of her works are hand drawn illustrations, which are printed onto a range of interior products. Her multi-award winning wallpaper and interior furnishings studio is based in rural Worcestershire, England.

This Weeks Lust Have: A Brown Leather Couch

My very pregnant and lovely colleague, Kristina, just purchased a gorgeous saddle chestnut leather sofa from Restoration Hardware and has asked ME to help her style it. How exciting!

I love the richness of this piece, and although reminiscent of an older gentlemen’s club, this sofa is so versatile that it can be accessorized in any style that you desire. What a timeless piece to have in the living room! I am definitely a fan of brown leather sofas and currently enjoy a fantastic craigslist find in my own living room.

Here are a few looks I am cultivating for Kristina…

Tufted Goodness

I seem to gravitate towards all things tufted. A tufted piece can bring a romantic and high end feel to any room! This style is making a comeback in the design world and I am definitely on board with this revitalized trend.

Designer Crush: Mood & Space

In the midst of my Sunday morning stroll, I stumbled upon a gem of an interior design firm located in the heart of Jack London Square, Mood and Space Design.

Designers Dawn Carlson and Tony Ibarra met while studying Interior Architecture and Design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and have since established a beautiful partnership.

Their Philosophy:

/'mas/ 1 - noun, something of greater importance; your home is more than the place where you reside.

They work to create a mashup of space and style and believe that your home should be an expression of who you are. Mood and Space Design focuses on creating sophisticated spaces that allow for you to live, relax, and thrive.

Check out some images from their online portfolio:

Enjoy!
